Image Manipulation with GIMP

Image manipulation is a fundamental skill in graphic design and can take on many forms depending on the role of the designer. A print designer might work on altering high resolution images for publication on a magazine where an interface designer may be preparing images for use in software but the basic skills of changing pixels to alter a digital image are much the same.

In this resource students work through four exercises that cover a set of fundamental image manipulation techniques.

  1. Aging a Photo
  2. Creating a Brushed Chrome Texture
  3. Removing Elements from a Photo using a Clone Tool
  4. Creating a Sliding Button for a Graphical Interface

The resource includes:

  1. Working files for each of the activities.
  2. Step-by-step tutorials for each of the four activities.
